RoboInst is a software distribution product designed to help
automate the process of installing operating system
upgrades, operating system and application patches, and
applications (both SGI format and third party) for a
distributed network of SGI systems. In addition, RoboInst
can be used to perform disk configuration prior to
installation. It is currently supported for IRIX 6.2 and
later but will accomodate upgrades of systems from IRIX 5.3
to later releases. RoboInst performs in-place upgrades of
software without manual de-installation of previous
versions, manages software compatibility issues and has an
easy API for developers to use.
Note: RoboInst can be used to install IRIX 6.2, 6.3 and 6.4
systems provided the appropriate XFS patches are
installed on the client systems. Refer to Chapter 3
of these release notes for more information.
Note: Packaged with your software is a separate sheet that
contains the Software License Agreement. This
software is provided to you solely under the terms
and conditions of the Software License Agreement.
Please take a few moments to review the Agreement.
